Saying good-bye to the weddings of 2010

I was going to be posting a blog that had images from all my 2010 weddings, kind of like a best of 2010. But as I was gathering all the images together I realized that the task would be nearly impossible. We are a smaller wedding photography studio, no more than 30 weddings per year. As such I become much more personally involved in each wedding, so the task of distilling it down to one or two images that flash by really quick in a slide show seemed a bit of a let down. In looking back Im so thankful to all my brides and grooms for allowing me to be part of their wedding so I thought I would spend January reliving each wedding one day at a time sharing a couple images telling a couple stories.

Im going to cheat with the first one because Krista + Chris were married in 2009, but December 26th is close enough.

If you heard the song “Im dreaming of a white christmas” well that was playing in my head all day because as you can see in the background it wasn’t quite cold enough for snow, so we stayed inside to stay warmer and dryer (all except for my assistant John who had to stand outside in the rain to hold the flash ) Fortunately though as the day progressed into night that rain became a little more snowish for the image below, which was taken at Silver Creek Country Club.

Im posting the image below rather than the normal Bride and groom romantic dancing shots because if there is one thing I love about weddings is that its one time when families come together let lose and just enjoy each other. The image below is the bride dancing with her brother.

Ok normally I dont bring props to shoot one of our Partybooths, but Christmas was so close I couldn’t resist. The first is a reenactment of an actual choking that occurred earlier in the evening. The gentleman in the image really was given the hiemlich. The great thing about this image for me was the expressions in each persons face, each one so different. And props the the lovely lady willing to catch the soggy hershey kiss.

I big thanks to John my assistant for his great work.

I will be posting a wedding a day so stay tuned. Also the big Bridal Show at Lehigh University is this weekend. Hope to see everyone there.

Wedding Photography doesn’t have to be boring. I Love this shot of Christina and Garrett from their wedding. One of the toughest things about our “Booth with a twist” is showing how its not like a normal photo booth where a strip pops out of people making funny faces, but how it showcases the crazy funness (another questionable word) that gets lost in most wedding photography.

The couple was married at the Riverview Country Club in Easton PA. Here in the Lehigh Valley

Joann + Franks PartyBooth was crazy, never before have I had such a participatory crowd. AND I LOVED IT. This one is truly what the booth is all about, it’s not just about being wacky or embarrassing people, it’s not about getting that family picture that you procrastinate about going to a photography studio for. It’s about showing of the personalities of everybody so that you can truly see the patchwork of individuals that surround and make up the couples lives. It’s so much fun to see a wedding being a celebration (not just for the bride and groom but for everyone) I had a blast and hope everyone did as well.

The Brewworks ≈ Martinis & Manicures (St. Patty’s Day)

Ok seriously this event has become standing room only, the brewworks may correct me on this but there was like 150 people at this one. If you have no idea what Martini’s & Manicures is click on this link now and reserve your spot for next month and tell them Mike sent you over. Were talkin’ $10 for a martini and your choice of a manicure or massage (ladies only, sorry fellas find somewhere else to go get your nails done).

Normally with the partybooth (click to see the partybooth) I only utilize found props, things on location. That way I have the creativity amp turned up to 11 (Spinal Tap reference for those in the know) But for St. Patty’s day I broke down and injected a little irish in the mix.

Ok here is a long one. Zach and Debbi’s wedding this past weekend was unbelievable. In addition to some great photography, that I will be posting in the normal congrats blog, we got to have our first PartyBooth. Before I go on I want to thank Nate and Jaclyn for the inspiration to bring the booth back out after I had permanently decommissioned it after the 100 or so Bar-Mitzvahs I had to set it up at. What was old they helped to make new & fun. So thanks guys.

After the holidays I’m going to have a post talking about the party booth and the philosophy behind. If you are planning a wedding definitely get in contact with we so we can chat about how we can incorporate it into photo coverage.
