Wedding Photography Tips ≈ Sunset, going, going, gone

It may seem like a very simple concept, but with out light there is no photography. So the quality of the light is extremely important. True enough most photographers that are skilled in utilizing light can do a wide range of tricks to simulate a great variety of moods and feelings but there is no getting around the fact that there are certain times of the day where the quality of natural light is unique and when its gone its gone.

This is important to remember when planing your day. Trying to cram all those shots in before the cocktail hour is great but there is nothing wrong with taking a quick break from the wedding just before dinner is served or after to go grab a quick sunset or evening shot. You will be glad you did, not just to have an amazing picture, but there is a certain romance in having some quick one on one time away from the bustle of the reception. Remember though your window to shoot this is 5-10min the light goes fast so talk to your photographer so you can make the most of it.

The above picture was shot at the Riverview Country Club in Easton PA. I loved the series of pictures so much that I used the below picture on the back cover of the up and coming style magazine, wedding issue. Thank you so much to Bill and Melissa for being amazing and spending a couple moments with me away from the reception

BAM! – Photographing Emeril at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem

Michael McNett Photography photographing Emeril at the sands casino in Bethlehem PA

I have the fantastic time last night photographing Emeril at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem,  PA. He was in town to celebrate the opening of his new restaurant in the casino,  Burgers And More (BAM)

I arrived there early to his his restaurant, Emeril’s Chophouse before he got there. Let me say that if you are in the Lehigh valley or even near it get on over to the chophouse in the sands for a meal/experience. Not only is the decor and food superb but the wait staff and management is stellar. I had a blast testing out my lights w the staff and chatting with the restaurant manager. Normally when the big boss comes to town (Emeril) you would expect the staff rushing around trying to get everything perfect. Not these guys everybody was calm and collected  because they run that impeccable of a restaurant all the time.

I actually bumped into Emeril for the first time as I was walking through the kitchen. He was so in his element there that I didn’t realize who he was until we were literally face to face when he turned around. Now I have photographed many celebrities and I dont post about all of them as some can be rude and not always a pleasure to photograph. I can honestly say it was a pleasure shooting Emeril, as he made his way through the crowd he made time for everyone, shaking hands joking around and generally concerned that people we having a good time enjoying the meal he prepared., even though his New Orleans Saints were playing New England last night (winning 38-17)

I’d like to thank the Sands and Emeril for having me.  I had a blast

Kelly - Nice picture! :) Sounds like it was a blast to shoot Emeril, and it’s always good to hear about a celebrity that cares about his fans/customers. I can’t wait to get to one of his restaurants one day!

Mike - There are privacy issues regarding the casino patrons that make it tough to post a lot of stuff. Thx Hooman it was.
