It may seem like a very simple concept, but with out light there is no photography. So the quality of the light is extremely important. True enough most photographers that are skilled in utilizing light can do a wide range of tricks to simulate a great variety of moods and feelings but there is no getting around the fact that there are certain times of the day where the quality of natural light is unique and when its gone its gone.
This is important to remember when planing your day. Trying to cram all those shots in before the cocktail hour is great but there is nothing wrong with taking a quick break from the wedding just before dinner is served or after to go grab a quick sunset or evening shot. You will be glad you did, not just to have an amazing picture, but there is a certain romance in having some quick one on one time away from the bustle of the reception. Remember though your window to shoot this is 5-10min the light goes fast so talk to your photographer so you can make the most of it.
The above picture was shot at the Riverview Country Club in Easton PA. I loved the series of pictures so much that I used the below picture on the back cover of the up and coming style magazine, wedding issue. Thank you so much to Bill and Melissa for being amazing and spending a couple moments with me away from the reception
